Typing data
Monster Keyboard processes the text needed for suggestions and autocorrection on your device. Typed text is not collected, stored, or transmitted.
Network and tracking
Monster Keyboard does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or accounts. Dictionary features, Find & Copy, and the optional custom keyboard work offline. The optional Messages sprite picker contacts SpriteCollab and GitHub only after you choose Enable GIFs and Load Online Sprites.
Local preferences
Theme and typing preferences are stored locally in an App Group shared by the app and keyboard extension. The keyboard reads those preferences locally and does not request Full Access.
Dictionary and local picker data
Pokémon dictionary entries are bundled with the app. No PokéAPI requests occur while you type. The app records the iOS dictionary words it adds so it can remove them later. Favorites, custom terms, and up to 20 recent selections are stored in the local App Group. Search queries and conversation contents are not stored.
Find & Copy and Messages
Copy writes only the term or credits you explicitly choose to the clipboard; Monster Keyboard does not read clipboard contents. The Messages extension inserts the selected term or GIF into an unsent draft. It does not read conversations or send messages.
Optional online Pokémon sprites
When enabled, the picker downloads a public catalogue from
spriteserver.pmdcollab.org and selected or visible artwork
from raw.githubusercontent.com. Those services receive
your IP address and requested catalogue or asset URLs and may keep
their own server logs. Monster Keyboard sends no search strings,
messages, keyboard input, account identifiers, analytics, or
advertising identifiers, and operates no collection server.
Catalogue metadata, animation sheets, and generated GIFs are cached locally up to 80 MB. The catalogue is fresh for 24 hours and may be used offline for up to seven days. Clear Downloaded GIF Cache removes this cache and turns online sprites off. Temporary draft exports older than one hour are removed when another GIF is generated; iOS may also purge cached or temporary files.
GIFs contain only the animation on a transparent background, without a credit footer or automatic message text. Artist, licence, source, and modification details remain in the preview and can be copied separately with Copy Credits. Original-game artwork is labelled separately and its reuse rights are not verified.
Third-party links
Artist, source, and licence links open third-party websites governed by their own privacy policies. The optional custom keyboard contains no sprite networking code and does not request Full Access.
Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight
MonsterKeyboard makes bundled Pokémon names discoverable through an on-device Spotlight index and provides an offline term lookup action for Siri and Shortcuts. It does not transmit those searches or results.
Your privacy choices and deletion
Turn Off Online Sprites stops future catalogue and artwork requests. Clear Downloaded GIF Cache removes MonsterKeyboard's local sprite cache and also turns the feature off. Recent terms can be cleared from either picker. Use Manage Words or Remove MonsterKeyboard Words before deleting the app if you do not want words it taught Apple's text checker to remain.
Deleting the app removes its local app data under iOS's normal behavior, but Messages manages attachments already copied into drafts. MonsterKeyboard has no account or developer collection server and cannot inspect or delete logs SpriteCollab or GitHub may retain. Consult those services for their retention and deletion practices. Turning online sprites off prevents future requests from MonsterKeyboard.
